CSR22 is a full interior transformation of a compact bachelor condo designed to support the client’s active lifestyle and broad range of interests. The brief was ambitious: turn a cluttered, geometrically complex space into a livable, highly functional home—capable of housing everything from outdoor equipment to a full kitchen, bar, and sleeping quarters.
From the outset, the geometry posed challenges: non-orthogonal walls and trapezoidal corners made layout planning highly complex. The original kitchen and pantry were disconnected and dysfunctional, creating awkward circulation and no clear place to sit. To address this, we began by filing a permit with the city to rework the layout and demolish the pantry room, opening up the kitchen to daylight and making room for a new, rationalized floor plan.
The resulting kitchen design is both sculptural and functional—built into and around an exposed concrete beam, it feels carved into the architecture rather than inserted. Clad in light grey FENIX laminate with maple accents, the cabinetry flows from the kitchen into a custom liquor bar in the living room, maintaining visual continuity. Integrated Corian sink, built-in appliances, and tall pantry-style storage recapture the functionality of the original pantry, while blending seamlessly with the raw concrete floor and ceiling structure.
The bedroom area features a custom high-storage bed platform, designed to accommodate bulky gear without cluttering the living space. Surrounding millwork includes closets both behind and in front of the bed, transforming the sleeping zone into a fully integrated storage core. Every surface and joinery element was optimized for tight tolerances and maximum use of volume, turning geometric constraints into creative opportunities.
CSR22 showcases how compact, irregular spaces can be transformed with precision planning, custom millwork, and architectural cohesion—creating a home that is equal parts utility and expression.
