TYPOLOGY: RESIDENTIAL CASEWORK
LOCATION: VANCOUVER, BC

  • TSP20 is a comprehensive interior transformation of a penthouse in Vancouver’s Olympic Village, commissioned immediately after the client took possession of the unit. The existing built-ins were poorly crafted and uninspired—failing to reflect the architectural quality of the space or the lifestyle of its new owner. The brief was to reimagine the home as a clean, dark-toned sanctuary with soft architectural character, drawing inspiration from the client’s Greek heritage. The result is a residence defined by graceful curves, minimalist detailing, and tailored functionality.

The design concept incorporates arched bulkheads and column-inspired millwork, seamlessly blending architectural form with cabinetry throughout the home. The material palette centers around soft-touch Polaris Laminate by Abet Laminati, chosen for its matte finish and tactile quality. All doors and panels are handle-less, emphasizing clean surfaces and continuous geometry, while the storage behind each façade is fully customized to the client’s exact needs.

In the primary bedroom, we removed a previously cramped walk-in closet to create a more expansive and serene layout. The bed becomes the central focal point, anchored by a freestanding island that houses clothing storage, a laundry hamper, and integrated nightstands with embedded LED lighting. Behind the island, a full-height closet is subtly recessed into a curved bulkhead, continuing the sculptural language of the room. The former laundry room was absorbed into the expanded suite and clad entirely in Carrara stone, creating a spa-like utility space. The bathroom vanities feature scaled-down curved corners, echoing the soft transitions found throughout the home.

In the public spaces, we unified the kitchen, dining, and living room into a single open-concept layout. A dramatic black feature wall runs the full length of the space, starting at the media unit—which was precision-designed to fit a flush-mounted television—and continuing into the kitchen. A curved archway with an integrated sliding door divides the two zones while maintaining visual continuity. The media cabinet incorporates perforated panels for AV ventilation, ensuring no compromise between aesthetics and performance.

The kitchen is equipped with a full-height appliance garage, built-in appliances, and custom storage solutions integrated into the surrounding millwork. The kitchen island continues the curved design language, softening its presence while anchoring the open layout.

TSP20 exemplifies how thoughtful material use, cultural references, and rigorous spatial planning can elevate a space into something timeless, personal, and deeply architectural.
